String Theory on AdS3/ZN
We study string theory on singular ZN quotients of AdS3, corresponding to spaces with conical defects. The spectrum is computed using the orbifold procedure. It is shown that spectral flow may be used to generate the twisted sectors. We further compute the thermal partition function and show that it correctly reproduces the spectrum.
متن کاملSliding Mode Control with Predictive PID Sliding Surface for Improved Performance pdfkeywords=Sliding Mode Control, Sliding surface, Predictive PID, GPC
In this paper, a sliding mode control system with a predictive proportional-integral-derivative (PPID-SMC) sliding surface is proposed. A robust sliding mode controller is suggested to track the desired trajectory despite uncertainty, set point variations, and external disturbances. The proposed sliding mode controller is chosen to ensure the stability of overall dynamics during the reaching ph...
متن کاملMagnitude and location of surface charges on Myxicola giant axons
The effects of changes in the concentration of calcium in solutions bathing Myxicola giant axons on the voltage dependence of sodium and potassium conductance and on the instantaneous sodium and potassium current-voltage relations have been measured. The sodium conductance-voltage relation is shifted along the voltage axis by 13 mV in the hyperpolarizing direction for a fourfold decrease in cal...
متن کاملSurface charges effects on the 2D conformation of supercoiled DNA
We have adsorbed plasmid pUc19 DNA on a supported bilayer. The mobility of the lipids within the bilayer ensured a 2D equilibrium of the DNA molecule. By varying the fraction of cationic lipids in the membrane, we have tuned the surface charge. Plasmids conformations were imaged by Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM).We performed two sets of experiments: deposition from salt free solution on charged ...
متن کاملpH-INDEPENDENT AND pH-DEPENDENT SURFACE CHARGES ON KAOLINITE
-Model cation-exchange curves are presented for an idealized kaolinite surface where the charge on the surface (1) has its origin in cation substitution in the structure, and hence, is pH independent; and (2) is produced by protonation/deprotonation reactions of oxide-like sites, and hence, depends on the acid and base strengths of the surface sites, as welt as the ionic strength. Two pH-indepe...
